MIDDLETOWN TOWN COUNCIL MEETING OCTOBER 16, 2007
The Middletown Town Council met on Tuesday, October 16, 2007 with all members present. The meeting was opened with the pledge to the flag, the claims were signed and the minutes of the previous meeting were approved as read.
1. Pastor Jeff Landan of the United Methodist Church was present with a group from the church asking to use the Town owned Church at 11th and Locust Street for the Shepherds Closet. This organization includes all the local Churches. Dan Fountain moved to form a committee to evaluate this and Chuck Deweese seconded. All members voted yes. The members from the Council on the committee will be Martha Minnick and Dave Wagner.
2. Thomas Brentlinger of E-Gov was present to give the Council a presentation on creating a Town of Middletown web site.
3. In public announcements it was announced that flu shots will be given at the Middletown Library November 1st and at CVS on November 8th.
4. Police Chief Randy Wray informed the Council that Justin Michael has complete his training at the Law Enforcement Academy.
5. Town Attorney Dave Copenhaver spoke on the current curfew laws, after much discussion it was decided to form a committee with the schools, local churches, law enforcement, youths of the community and health officials to discuss the impact of curfew laws. Randy Wray and Donita will follow up on this.
6. David Real announced that he has advertised for two general labors.
7. Donita Chambless announced that an employee has asked for Family Leave Act time.
8. Dave Wagner announced that the Boy Scouts are hosting a chili supper on Saturday, December 8th.
9. Dave Wagner moved to dismiss the action against Jim Mundell's property on High Street. He felt that progress has been made and Mr. Mundell has cooperated. Martha Minnick seconded. Dan Fountain commented that the property was not up to the Town expectations. Chuck Deweese commented that he feels that Town Ordinance Violations Officer, Kyle Metcalf should be involved. Jake Smith read a letter expressing his concerns. The vote was three votes yes and two votes no, motion carried.
10. Dan Fountain proposed that Fall Creek Blvd be changed to Westrater Blvd. The Council instructed the Town Attorney to prepare the ordinance. This was with a motion by Dan Fountain and a second by Dave Wagner. All members voted yes.
There being nothing more to come before the Council, the meeting adjourned.
